Welcome to Goodstart Wonthella, where children are supported to learn, play and grow in a warm, inclusive early learning environment on Yamatji Country. Located on the corner of Place Road and Flores Road, we're just an eight-minute drive from Geraldton town centre, making quality childcare and early learning convenient for local families. Our experienced educators build strong, lasting relationships with children and families, creating a place where every child feels known, valued and supported. As a not-for-profit early learning centre, we focus on what matters most – giving children a strong start through play, connection, curiosity and learning.

- Qualified Kindergarten teachers – Our two Bachelor-qualified Early Childhood Teachers provide intentional, play-based Kindergarten programs that support children's growing independence, confidence and transition to school.
- Purpose-built learning spaces – Our six learning spaces are designed around children's developmental stages, from Nursery through to Kindergarten, giving children environments where they can explore, connect and learn at their own pace.
- A not-for-profit difference – As the only not-for-profit childcare provider in town, our focus is on reinvesting in children, families and quality early learning rather than generating profits for shareholders.
- Convenient long day care – With care available from 6:30am to 6:30pm, plus sessional options, we offer flexible childcare to help suit the routines and needs of local families.
- Spaces that continue to evolve – Recent improvements include new flooring in our Pre-kindy and Kindergarten rooms and a new garden bed foundation at the front of the centre, helping create welcoming spaces for children to learn and play.
Early learning built around your child
At Goodstart Wonthella, we believe children learn best when they feel safe, secure and genuinely involved in their learning. Our educators follow children's interests and encourage them to ask questions, make choices, explore ideas and build confidence through hands-on, play-based experiences.
Strong relationships are at the heart of our approach. Our longstanding educators get to know each child's personality, interests, strengths and individual way of learning, while working closely with families to create continuity between home and early learning.
Children also have opportunities to connect with their wider community through special visitors, incursions and experiences. From police visits to story time experiences with Desert Blue, these opportunities help children make meaningful connections between their early learning environment and the world around them.
Kindergarten in Wonthella
Our Kindergarten program is led by two Bachelor-qualified Early Childhood Teachers who create engaging learning experiences based on children's interests and development. Through play, investigation, conversation and meaningful relationships, children build the confidence, communication, independence and social skills that support their transition to school.

Children need to feel safe and supported to learn and grow, so we promote key educator relationships between our educators and children. Your child will have at least one educator (their key educator) who takes them under their wing and really gets to know them. 
Our Key Educator relationships help children form secure attachments. Educators work closely with smaller groups and individual children to better understand each child. These relationships lead to improved outcomes for children as we foster more communication between families and educators. 
We inform families regularly about their child's progress and welcome family involvement in our centre events and activities.

Teachers with bachelor's degrees run our three and four-year-old kindergarten program, so children can be well on their way to excellent learning outcomes by the time they start school.

Hi I'm Kate Carpenter and I'm the Centre Director at Goodstart Wonthella.
My name is Kate, and I am excited to introduce myself as the Centre Director at Goodstart Wonthella. Since beginning my journey in Early Childhood Education and Care in 2008, I have been privileged to support children through every stage of their early learning journey while progressing through a variety of roles within the sector. These experiences have provided me with a strong understanding of what children need to feel safe, valued, and empowered to learn, grow, and thrive.
Throughout my career, I have worked in metropolitan, regional, and remote communities across Australia, gaining valuable insight into the diverse experiences, cultures, and strengths that children and families bring to early learning environments. These experiences have strengthened my commitment to creating inclusive spaces where every child feels a sense of belonging and has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
I am passionate about advocating for children's rights, supporting their individual learning journeys, and creating environments that spark curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning. By empowering educators and building strong partnerships with families, I strive to ensure every child receives the highest quality care and education.
More than 15 years on, I continue to be inspired by the unique perspectives, resilience, and potential of young children and the opportunity to make a positive difference in their lives every day.
